Definition: In psychology experiments, researchers are interested in learning if changes to one variable result in changes to other variables. The dependent variable is the one that experimenters are trying to measure. For example, in an experiment looking at whether the number of hours spent studying improves test scores, the dependent variable would be the test scores.
