There are plenty of popular psychology myths out there, from the idea that we only use 10 percent of our brains to the idea that human memory works much like a video camera. But what about some of the most commonly held misconceptions about psychology itself?

Like many other disciplines, many of these mistaken beliefs are held by people with little experience or interaction with the topic. Such misapprehensions include the idea that all psychologists get paid lots of money to listen to people talk or that psychology is really just common sense.

Fortunately, as more and more people take an interest in psychology, the easier it is to overcome these misconceptions. Take a closer look at some of the most common myths about psychology and share your thoughts on what you think are some of the most common misconceptions.
