Do you feel anxious in a red room? Does the color blue make you feel calm and relaxed? Artists and interior designers have long understood how color can dramatically affect mood, feelings, and emotions. It is a powerful communication tool and can be used to signal action, influence mood, and cause physiological reactions. Certain colors can raise blood pressure, increase metabolism, or cause eyestrain.

I've asked readers to share how various colors make them feel and I've gotten a lot of great responses so far!

For example, one guest named Joe described his reactions to the color green:

"Hopeful, optimistic, forgiven, energized, restful, royal, elegant, rich, healthy, playful, respected, responsible, wealthy, cautious, peaceful, warm, stable, tall, clean, stable, comforted, sturdy, strong, and compassionate. This is my favorite color, all shades and hues."

Share your own responses and learn more about how colors can affect moods, feelings and behaviors in this article on the psychology of color.
