Reader Responses to Purple

Purple is deceptive, it says strength, war, regal, wealth and at the same time it says God, divinity, retribution, peace ending.
--Linda

In the time of Christ, purple dye was very expensive, therefore only royalty wore it. God in heaven is about as royal as you can get so I can imagine Him wearing purple. We are all his children, therefore we are entitled to wear purple also. Wearing purple helps me remember that I am a child of God.
--Melanie

Purple makes me feel whole, calm, complete, serene, soothed, happy, playful, exotic, sexy.
--Portia

Purple gives a sense of belonging and calm. It gives a healing effect and sooth my emotions. At the end of the tunnel, purple brings on some kind of achievement into reaching the uttermost.
--Paul

Purple feels richer, superior and yet more subtle than the other colours, seeming to incorporate all the other colours within itself. It represents the full range of any quality - delicate to strong; sad to happy; transient to solid.
--Martin

Purple makes me feel loved and cherished.
--Calinda

Beauty, mystic, coupled with serenity.
--Delma

Purple and/or pink make me feel beautiful. It also makes me feel healthy, if that's not too strange to say. It in itself is just a gorgeous color, and it makes you feel happy to see it. What's more beautiful than a purple iris! I just feel happy when I see it, whereas brown, gray, tan, etc. can't do much for anyone.
--Linda

This color makes me fill comfortable with myself. It makes me fill like I am somebody.
--Joann

It creates a feeling of peace. Nothing is wrong when I am surrounded with the color purple. I have actually painted my bedroom with the color lavender. All things appear settle and peaceful. If ever you take a look at any highway that has a spread of purple flowers you might get the gist of what I am describing.
--DeSheri

To me it makes the captions seem more important than the others on the page simply because we are conditioned that when we see red it’s supposed to be a sale or draw more attention. But to me it is so overused that I tend to ignore it. Thus the purple on the page stood out more to me.
--Terri

I often notice how the sunsets and shading with aqua blue and pale coral appear beautiful with purple. I wear a purple Alexandrite stone which changes to blue especially in cold mornings. My oldest grandson loves purple too. The other two grandchildren have their favorite colors as well. The second grandson enjoys green, orange, silver and white. My grandaughter who is four enjoys purple and pink. They have chosen their favorite colors since they were babies. I make sweet bags from purple velvet and enjoy most beadwork with shades of purple, lilac, and blends of purple and fushia.

Also, I have been visually challenged and the colors have helped me in color as I use stick-to color page identifiers to color-code my class work assignments. I also use color binders to identify various classes.

Life is of most interest with color.
--Linda

Purple in deep tones has a solid royal feel. In light tones it feels playful.
--Sunny

My first response was to smile to myself, then my breathing slowed. I didn’t realize I was breathing fast. Also, I am calmer.
--Heidi

I "think" purple is my favorite color, but it depends where I see it. I nearly purchased a purple car, but I'm really glad I didn't! I would have gotten sick of the color. I love purple in flowers or some clothing, but I certainly wouldn't decorate my house in purple!!
--Susan

When I practice yoga and meditation I see the color purple surrounding me. At the beginning I see it on my forehead and then it expand around my body, so I'm interested to find more about it. I like it because it's different from the basic colors. It looks mystic to me.
--Cleuzy

Purple has a magical quality to it. It also makes me think of people who are passionate and who are not afraid to really live, or to take chances.
--Lynnette

Purple is my favorite color. I think that is because it's a perfect blend of red (power) and blue (calm.) It makes me feel.....well...powerfully calm, I guess!
--Rick & Val

Purple makes me think of magic and gives me a mystical, eerie, and exotic feeling. Depending on what I'm looking at, it can bring me a feeling of evil.
--Caitlin

Solemn...
--Bob

Purple makes you feel serene sometimes.
--Bruce

Foggy and unclear...
--Mjcarmody

It makes me think of the unknown mystical things we may never know about the universe.
--Richard

My daughters used to giggle when I wore my favorite color, purple. After much probing I found out that they and their friends considered the color purple to be the color of sexual frustration! Hmm..could be something to this.
--Maggie

Makes me feel ill.
--Niall
